Marcia Montenegro, Contemplating the Eastern Roots of Contemplative Prayer                

Contemplative Prayer, presented as a form of prayer/meditation, is being promoted in many churches today. Where did this practice come from and what is involved? We will look at the roots of the Contemplative Prayer Movement, started by three Roman Catholic Monks, and examine its practices and teachings, which often include special breathing techniques and word repetition. The crucial question, “Is this practice Biblical prayer?” will be the theme of this workshop.
